The Fund has been supporting Insight Radio from the beginning and I am delighted to say that support will continue.

We are going to become more closely involved though and, when I “retire” from the world of academia, I plan to use the radio studio that has been built at Headquarters to record various items about the Fund for broadcast. I’ve spoken at two major conferences this year on behalf of the Fund about the development of new audio equipment.

These were the National Association of Local Societies for Visually Impaired conference in Chester and the Talking Newspaper Federation’s annual conference in Swindon.

Unfortunately I wasn’t able to be present when the Fund had another visitor, local MP Ann Widdecombe. I understand she thoroughly enjoyed her visit and I’m sure she felt, as I do, that it’s always a pleasure to visit Albion Place.

The team of staff and volunteers are what make it special, without whom the building would just be “Head Office”!

An insight into life at BWBF

As you saw in last year’s Talkabout, BWBF moved it’s Headquarters from Chatham to Albion Place in Maidstone.

Since then we’ve had a very busy year. We’ve had a number of visitors including Ross McFadyen, the Station Manager at Insight Radio. Ross came to a meeting of the Board of Trustees and told us all about the future of this special station for people who are visually impaired. Insight Radio were kind enough to invite me to the launch of Freesat at the House of Commons and I attended one of their programme meetings in Glasgow.
