Twenty years ago you might have had to really search to find the offices of the British Wireless for the Blind Fund! A few dedicated staff tucked away in a tiny office high up on the top floor of a central London building…very hard to find – yet very hard at work!
Even way back then the Fund could anticipate the growing challenge we would be facing in the future. The number of people needing our service was increasing steadily;and more and more sets were needed to meet the demand. Also we were aware that the audio technology that had remained relatively unchanged for a couple of decades was set to advance in leaps and bounds, although few at that time could have predicted the enormous developments that we now take for granted – compact disc, digital audio broadcasting and the opportunities offered by the internet for example.
