There are many ways to make web pages clearer for those who have difficulty seeing: so, here we include instructions on how to adjust the most popular web browsers to make reading of web pages more comfortable.

To adjust page font Size in Internet Explorer 7

1. On the Start menu: Select Internet Explorer 7.
2 To change the text size on a Web page:
* Select the Page menu.
* Point to Text Size.
* Select your choice of Largest, Larger, Medium, Smaller, Smallest text sizes.

The size of displayed text on the web page should change. If it does not, the page designer may have used a fixed font size specification, rather than an adjustable "relative" font size specification In this case, you need to follow these instructions:

  1. In Internet Explorer, click the Tools button, and then click Internet Options.
  2. On the General tab, click Accessibility.
  3. Select the Ignore colors specified on webpages, Ignore font styles specified on webpages, and Ignore font sizes specified on webpages check boxes, and then click OK twice.

To adjust page font size in Internet Explorer 6

  1. Click the View menu
  2. Click on Text size
  3. Adjust the text size up or down by clicking on one of the size choices.
    Your choices are: smallest, smaller, medium, larger, largest.

To permanently adjust font size in Internet Explorer 6

  1. Click the Tools menu
  2. Click Internet Options
  3. Click the General tab
  4. Click the Accessibility... button
  5. Select the option "Ignore font sizes Tab->specified on Web pages".
  6. Click OK to save the settings.
  7. Click OK to close the Internet Tools window.

This will allow you to increase or decrease the text size from "Smallest" to "Largest" as described above.


To adjust page font Size in Firefox*

  1. Click on View on the browser Menu Bar.
  2. Highlight Text Size with your mouse and notice that you now
    have 3 choices that will allow you to increase or decrease text size.
  3. Increase or Decrease your font size and you will see a change in text size
    on this web page. You can also hold down <CTRL> and type "+" or "-" to change the font size.
  4. Select Normal or <CTRL> and "0" to return to the default text size.

To permanently adjust page font size in Firefox*

1. In main menu go to Tools » Options » Content
2. Under Fonts & Colours, select Advanced...
3. A menu will appear allowing you to select various font sizes and styles.
4. Once you have selected your preferred options, uncheck the box that says Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above, and then click OK.

*Windows Versions Only

Additional Note:

The BWBF website - along with most modern websites - uses 'stylesheets' that regulate font face and size in various places. To override the style sheets where they are used, you may need to use the 'permanent' settings for your browser as described above. This is a requirement common to most modern websites. Be aware that when text is enlarged, it may not necessarily fit well into the designated spaces. This caveat applies to all web pages that use style sheets and fixed font sizes.
